In 1886, a school building was built along the St.-Johann-Straße for the girls' grammar school and in 1887, 120 students moved into the new house.
Until 1985, the building was several times remodeled and used for school operations.

In 1985, the house finally said goodbye to its function as a school building and served as a technoloy centre until the end 1990. Here, the today worldwide operating software-business Buhl Data Service (among others Wiso-Software) was founded in a small office. The international working business group Guntermann & Drunck also started in the Siegen technology centre of the former girls' school.

When in 1989 the culture office moved in, the cultural roots of the Gründerzeit building was reinvigorated. three years later, the cabaret artists 'Die Widerha(r)ken', used the Lÿz as a rehearsal place and in 1993, the LÿzMixVarieté celebrated its premiere here and since then, the stage of the Kleine theatre is being sold out. In 1993/94, a repertoire was created for the first time. A handy folder, which after all, produces five programmes with 40 play dates and marks the start of a new cultural calendar in the St.-Johann-Str. 18.
